Playstation 4 Sony says worldwide sales hits 5 3 million units

According to reports, Sonys Playstation 4 has sold over  5.3 million units worldwide since its launch.

In January 2014, word circulated that Microsoft had sold 3.9 million Xbox One consoles around the world.
Sony announced today that it had sold more than 5.3 million units worldwide since the PS4 launched.

The sales figure came as of February 8. Sony says that the sales momentum is continuing. The 5.3 million units sold number comes with the PS4 unavailable in some major markets.

The PS4 won’t launch in Japan, Sonys home nation, until February 22. The PS4 was the best selling console in January in the US says Sony. If Sony were able to meet the demand for the console early on, those numbers would be much better.

The last time PS4 sales were made public was in December 2013 when the console had moved 2.1 million units globally.

DFC Intelligence has predicted that the PS4 and Xbox one will each sell 100 million units before the end of their lives.

Abia State Aide to Theodore Orjis son shot dead

The Police has commenced investigation into the death of a young man said to be an aide to the family of Governor Theodore Orji.

The victim, John Ndubuka from Amokwe Ugba in Umuahia metropolis, had accompanied the governor’s son, Chinedum Orji, to the grand civic reception organised by the Ikwuano/Umuahia people in honour of Dr. Orji.

It was gathered that a shot was fired towards late Ndubuka, allegedly by a police corporal attached to government security team.

The shooting which occurred about 5pm, happened when the late Ndubuka tried to shield Chinedum from a crowd of youth, as he (Chinedum) was about to enter his waiting vehicle after the ceremony.

Ndubuka was later confirmed dead close to the Umuahia Federal Medical Centre.

Commenting on the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonnah, told The Guardian that the suspected killer cop has been arrested.

On the likelihood that the shooting was targeted at the governor’s son with an intention of assassinating him, the police spokesman said this was yet to be proved.

Meanwhile, the body of late Ndubuka has been deposited at the mortuary in Umuahia, the state capital.

Brazil 2014 Super Eagles to play Croatia in a friendly

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has disclosed that it is close to tying up a World Cup friendly for the Super Eagles against the Croatian national team.

Nigeria will face Mexico on March 5 in Atlanta as part of her preparations for the Brazil 2014 World Cup; and officials have now said they are about to seal another friendly against Croatia.


“We are 95% close to sealing a friendly against Croatia ahead of the World Cup,” NFF spokesperson, Ademola Olajire, said on Friday in Abuja.

The Super Eagles will kick off their world cup campaign in Group F against Iran at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba on June 16.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 specs leak

According to a collection of documents shared this afternoon relatively anonymously, the Samsung tablet division is readying three new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 devices for Mobile World Congress 2014. These devices will each be incrementally better than their predecessors, coming up with cameras and processing power roughly on-par with the Samsung Galaxy S III for each iteration - roughly. These devices will also each be released with Android 4.4 KitKat.

Another year, another set of tablets - thats what were seeing here from the likes of Samsung with the Galaxy Tab 4 in 10.1-inch, 8, and 7-inch iterations. Starting with the largest of the bunch, youll be seeing a 10.1-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution - the exact same panel as last years model. Instead of dual-core, weve got a quad-core processor, and with 16GB internal storage (again), weve bumped 32GB capacity microSD up to 64GB.

The camera on the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 is now 8-megapixels instead of 3, while the front has a 2-megapixel camera instead of 1.3. This device will roll with almost exactly the same dimensions as the previous model, carrying the same battery size and network connectivity as well - even the Bluetooth is the same (it was Bluetooth 4.0 already last year). This is all according to PhoneArena and their original source MySamsungPhones, of course - but based on Samsungs last few years of releases, we have no reason to doubt these specifications.

In the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 weve got a device thats also almost the same with the same display, a quad-core instead of dual-core processor, and another 8GB internal storage with the same microSD capacity boost up to 64GB that the 10.1-inch tablet got. Here weve also got the same cameras as last year, same connectivity, and almost the exact same dimensions too, with a slightly larger battery and a few different bits of software.

2000 PDP members sign on to APC in Sokoto

At least 2000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Isa local government area of Sokoto state, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the past six weeks.

While speaking to newsmen on Sunday, the Interim Chairman of the APC in the area, Alhaji Aminu Shagari, disclosed this.


Shagari said that the defection of the people to the APC was a clear indication of the tremendous confidence and trust they have in Governor Aliyu Wamakko and his administration.
